Videocontest


[seventh edition]

The Art Institute of Venice, in co-operation with the old-age association Auser of Venice, Circuito Cinema, the Venetian Institute for Personal Social Services, the C.G.I.L trade union, and with the support of the City and County of Venice and the Veneto Region, announces the 7th edition of “Francesco Pasinetti” video contest.

Students from high schools, art academies, and universities are invited to participate in the contest. Only the “Venice, a city” and the “free subject” sections are open to everyone.

The video shorts should be max. 15-minute long.

The aim of the video contest is to promote the dialogue among generations. It consists of six sections:

  1. fictional or documentary video on the subject “Young people narrate the elderly
  2. “author’s interview” (interviews to representative people in the arts and culture)
  3. video shorts on the subject “Venice and work: yesterday and today” (prize offered by the C.G.I.L. Veneto);
  4. video shorts on the subject “Adolescence: how to survive?”;
  5. video shorts on the subject “Venice, a city”;

6.   Free subject

The registration is free.

The jury is presided by Carlo Montanaro, film critic and professor at the Accademia di Belle Arti of Venice, and it is composed of experts in the field and representatives of the sponsoring associations.

The best video shorts will be shown to the public in the Auditoriums of Ca’ Foscari and of the Art Institute of Venice at the end of May. During the festival, a selection of video shorts will also be shown in some Venetian courtyards (“Corti in corte”).

 

Prizes

The winners of the first two sections will receive the Pasinetti Trophy, made in Murano glass, and 500.00 euro.

The winner of the third section will receive a prize of 300.00 euro.

A prize of 200.00 euro will go to the winners of the fourth and fifth sections.

A special “Auser” prize of 150.00 euro will go to a video on interculturalism and integration.

A prize of 200.00 euro will go to the winner of the “free subject” section.

A special prize for best photography will be offered by the Circolo Fotografico “La Gondola”.

A special ‘solidarity and participation” prize will be offered by the Vetrina del Volontariato e della Solidarietà di Venezia.

There will also be merit mentions.

 

Deadline: DVD- and mini-DV-format videos should be sent to by April 10th, 2010, to the following address:

The awarded videos of all sections will be shown at the International Venice Film Festival (Venice Film Meeting section organized by Circuito Cinema).
